What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator - 2nd Shift position at Processed Metals Innovators INC?
We are seeking experienced and engaged individuals to join our 2nd Shift team as Machine Operators . This position will be trained to run a variety of machines to produce metal finished products. They also inspect materials and products for defects and ensure quality to specifications. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 4:00pm-2:30am with a three day weekend and $2.50 shift differential!
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Will independently operate various types of equipment and machinery including but not limited to Coil Fed or Hand Fed Machinery, Frontline Operations, Slitter Machines, Laser Cutting Machinery, etc., to produce a variety of finished products. Flexibility and capability to work on a variety of production related tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the production operations in set up and completion of several machine processes.
- Must follow all safety protocols
- Must be able to perform basic math skill including the ability to covert fractions to decimals
- Must be able to safely use air tools, banding machine
- Must have basic computer skill
- Able to identify quality issues and inform Area lead of issues. Be able to perform basic preventative maintenance on the line.
- Assist with steel coil setup and coil replacements. Ability to operate the banding line to process coils. IE: tip coils, run them down the line, record weights and print coil labels, operate automatic bander/pneumatic bander, package coils correctly.
- Perform typical laser cutting operations; Select proper cutting programs, and proper fixtures. Establish proper stop location, adjust laser beam focal point. Make proper set-ups for cutting operations.
- Assist area lead with cleanup, skid repair and keeping packaging products stocked and organized. Dispose of slit edge material according to material type; maintain a clean workspace.
- Ability to run the banding line and process coils independently. Needs to be able to log in and out of jobs including op completing, issuing material, making tags, and following the scanning process.
- Should have a good knowledge of basic head setting and the ability to process a coil from start to finish while following customer specifications.
- Responsible for ensuring a quality product is being produced and team members are working safely.
- Ensure quality by observing defined tolerances and completing end of process quality checks
- Print and accurately label coils according to specifications (size, material type, gauge, shift and operator number)
- Package and label pallets, boxes, or bins of finished products
