Metal Fabricator/Fitter

POSITION SUMMARY:   Able to build/assemble large-scale steel structures and equipment parts using blueprint drawings.  Capable and experienced in rigging and lifting techniques with overhead crane.  Proficient with stick and flux-core welding procedures.  Able to perform fitting techniques such as shrinking, stretching, grinding, hand burning, etc. Must be capable of measuring, operating machines to produce large mechanical and structural parts, to tight tolerances, with the ability to read and interpret blue prints. Layout and assembly.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: What are the 5-8 major responsibilities/activities of the role and 2-3 major expectations attributed to each activity?

1.    Build Steel Structures
•    Evaluate all engineering drawings and ensure implementation according to specifications for assembly of large structural and mechanical fabrications 
•    Perform work with understanding and ability to operate various hand and power tools
•    Keep your work areas cleaned up
•    Analyze diagrams and specifications and cut/form plate metal as required with applicable equipment
•    Evaluate finished products and perform quality checks on products
2.    Safety
•    Perform required workplace and equipment pre-shift inspections
•    Tell the Foreman and/or Manager of any safety hazards
•    Participate in the Continuous Improvement of the operation
•    Administer all duties in a safe and efficient manner
3.    Do any other work as assigned and trained to do
•    Do any assigned work to the best of your ability and training
•    Perform required workplace and equipment pre-shift or post-shift inspections

Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:
•    Access all areas within a site which could include heights, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs. 
•    Will be working at times in office environment but mainly in a manufacturing environment.
•    The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions:  Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Mineral Particles.
•    The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
•    Ability to consistently lift over 50 pounds as needed
