Overview
General Shop Laborer for regional repair facility of vertical turbine pump manufacturer.
This hourly, full-time position offers the opportunity to gain broad experience in a variety of manufacturing and repair tasks, providing support in various areas, including pump assembly, shipping and receiving, paint shop, transport of components and pumps using company vehicles, and machining.
The position reports to the Operations Manager / Production Floor Leaders who will assign tasks based on the current shop priorities.

Responsibilities
As this is a general support position, tasks will vary greatly and be assigned based on urgent needs of the day. The list of duties below represent the primary responsibilities of the position but is not comprehensive or intended to exclude duties not explicitly mentioned.
- Operating production machinery and equipment
- Assembling components and finished products according to instructions
- Measuring and weighing materials for production
- Monitoring and adjusting production processes to meet specifications
- Performing quality checks & inspecting finished goods for defects and adherence to quality and safety standards
- Keeping work area clean and organized and assisting with general facility upkeep
- Supporting Production Floor Leaders and mechanics with pump assembly
- Assist in loading and unloading trucks, organizing inventory, and conducting quality control of incoming material
- Aiding the paint department during periods of high demand
- Deburring and balancing of impellers for the Production and Assembly Department
- Following all safety protocols and regulations
- Completing production and quality control documentation
- Managing inventory levels and reporting needs
- Collaborating with other teams and coworkers
- Constructing skids, headboards, and various enclosures for shipping purposes
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- General shop/labor experience; additional on-the-job training provided
- Mechanical aptitude
- Experience using hand tools such as wrenches, rachets, sockets, pneumatic tools, and electric tools
- Ability to stand, bend and lift significant weight for significant portions of the day
- Ability to read a tape measure. Reading micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators a plus
- Valid Driver's License required
