EHS Manager
St Louis, MO
On-site (5 days p/w)

Position Overview
We’re working with an innovative, growing chemical business in St. Louis, MO to find an EHS Manager.
This is a rare chance to build the safety function at a growing business with a unique product seeing huge demand. You’ll own the programs, set the standards on the plant floor, and expand them to other sites.
You’ll be the go-to safety resource for an operational plant, and you’ll grow into managing the program for a second site that is being constructed. You’ll build systems from the ground up, and you’ll be visible in the plant, improving existing procedures and behaviors. Reporting to the C-Suite, you’ll have real authority, wide visibility, and the backing to make changes.
Day to day, you’ll split your time between the plant and the systems behind it. You’ll walk the site, coach supervisors, run investigations, and keep the plant compliant. You’ll also write the programs that make safety repeatable and easy to replicate at the next site.
They have an excellent OSHA safety record and want to keep improving. The goal is to standardize and systemize their approach so it carries over to the larger site coming online in the next few years.
Environmental work is relatively simple. The focus of this role is health and safety.
The new site will be even larger and is likely to be PSM (Process Safety Management) regulated. PSM experience is preferred but not required.
Travel will be minimal to begin with. It will increase to around 30% as the second plant progresses and commissions. The new site is within a 3 hour drive.
This role manages the EHS discipline. There are no direct reports to begin with.
