Role Description

We are searching for a Director of Business Development located in Greater Boston area. The Director of Business Development will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing business plans, generating leads, negotiating contracts, and managing accounts. Day-to-day tasks include strategizing to expand the company's market presence, building relationships with potential clients, and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.


Core Responsibilities

Strategy and Leadership

  • Develop, own, and execute the company-wide Business Development, Marketing, and Sales strategy in alignment with PDS’s growth objectives.
  • Define and track key BD performance metrics and implement OKRs that measure marketing effectiveness, lead quality, client engagement, and sales conversion.
  • Lead and manage the BD budget, including allocations for marketing campaigns, industry events, and tools.
  • Provide strategic input into the company’s offerings, particularly proEngQbD, and contribute to its commercial positioning.

Lead Generation and Opportunity Management

  • Qualify and vet inbound and outbound leads before escalation to senior engineering or leadership teams.
  • Coordinate and lead outreach activities including client 1-on-1s, proEngQbD demos/presentations, follow-ups, and trade show engagements.
  • Manage the full sales cycle: lead qualification, proposal generation, pricing coordination, contract negotiation, and deal closure.
  • Oversee and improve proposal content, standard templates, and pricing narratives to reflect evolving service and software capabilities.

Client Development and Relationship Management

  • Build and manage long-term client relationships, ensuring consistent and value-driven communication.
  • Maintain a client development pipeline and CRM system to track engagement and identify new opportunities for engineering and software services.
  • Represent PDS at industry conferences, events, and forums to expand network reach and market awareness.

Marketing and Content Management

  • Own and manage the company’s marketing channels including social media accounts, ensuring brand consistency and thought leadership presence.
  • Manage engineering and proEngQbD development resources in the creation of original marketing content.
  • Oversee the generation and publishing of digital and print content promoting PDS’s engineering expertise, project success, and software capabilities.

Program and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Act as the internal program manager for BD initiatives, ensuring on-time execution and alignment with broader business priorities.
  • Coordinate input from stakeholders across the organization—technical leads, partners, and software developers—to develop proposals, strategies, and client messaging.


Preferred Skills and Attributes

  • Strong data-driven mindset with ability to track, analyze, and communicate BD performance.
  • Self-starter with a high level of accountability, capable of independently owning strategy and execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored to technical and executive-level audiences.
  • Familiarity with engineering consulting and software solution integration in regulated industries preferred.
  • Experience with CRM systems, content marketing, and trade show planning is a plus.
