Job Overview
Proceed is seeking a motivated and dependable Process Server to join our Legal Support Services team in the Roanoke, VA area. In this vital role, you will be responsible for delivering and serving a variety of legal and official documents accurately and efficiently while ensuring compliance with all applicable legal requirements and deadlines.
Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help facilitate the smooth progression of legal matters by providing essential support to attorneys, courts, businesses, and clients. Primary Responsibilities
- Serve a wide range of legal documents, including subpoenas, summonses, complaints, wage garnishments, eviction notices, divorce papers, lien documents, petitions, and other legal documents.
- Ensure the timely delivery and proper service of all assigned documents in accordance with applicable state and local laws.
- Complete and promptly file accurate proofs of service following each completed assignment.
- Plan and navigate efficient service routes using maps, GPS, and other available technology to meet deadlines.
- Communicate professionally with recipients, clients, attorneys, court personnel, and coworkers.
- Document all service attempts and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Qualifications
- Prior experience in process serving or courier services is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor when interacting with clients and recipients.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.
- Knowledge of local laws related to service of process is a plus but not required; comprehensive training will be provided.
