Special Education Teacher in Glen Burnie, MD

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Maryland Special Education Teaching Certification (no conditional certifications accepted)
• Experience supporting students with intellectual disabilities, autism, and significant interfering behaviors, or a demonstrated passion to learn these skills
• Ability to pass security screening for access to a secure military base (required for this location)
• Flexibility, collaboration skills, and a compassionate, student-centered approach

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction using best practices in special education for a diverse caseload of elementary students
• Develop and implement IEPs to meet each student’s academic and behavioral needs
• Employ positive behavior supports and effective interventions for students with complex support requirements
• Engage in frequent communication with families, related service providers, and educational staff to foster student success
• Maintain accurate records and regular documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Contribute positively to a vibrant, multidisciplinary educational team
