Position Overview
The General Laborer provides support to roofing crews by performing manual labor, material handling, site preparation, demolition, cleanup, and other construction-related tasks under the direction of the Roofing Foreman. This is an entry-level position designed to develop the foundational skills necessary to advance into a Roofing Installer role.
This position will contribute in the following ways:
- Assist with job site setup, preparation, and cleanup before, during, and after construction projects.
- Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Perform demolition and removal of existing building materials as directed.
- Assist carpenters, roofers, installers, and other trades with project tasks.
- Operate hand tools and basic power tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or material shortages.
- Support crews in completing projects efficiently and on schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support construction operations.
Qualifications & Core Competencies
Required Competencies
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous construction or labor experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds regularly.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
