Job Description:
The Collector is responsible for managing and resolving assigned tax collection cases on behalf of the State of Arizona and participating counties and cities. Case types may include Individual Income Tax, Corporate Income Tax, Withholding Tax, and Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT).
This role involves contacting taxpayers by phone and conducting in-person field visits to residences, workplaces, and business locations. The Collector educates taxpayers on compliance requirements, promotes voluntary adherence to tax laws, and facilitates the resolution of outstanding liabilities and delinquencies.

Key Responsibilities
- Review taxpayer accounts for accuracy and outstanding obligations.
- Verify, gather, and update essential taxpayer information across multiple systems.
- Educate taxpayers about online resources, tax policies, and compliance requirements.
- Document case actions, conversations, and decisions in agency systems.
- Contact taxpayers by phone to resolve delinquent tax liabilities.
- Schedule and conduct field visits to residences, workplaces, and/or business locations.
- Promote voluntary compliance by reviewing financial statements, supporting documentation, and explaining pathways to achieve and maintain compliance.
- Negotiate payment arrangements when appropriate.
- Participate in the seizure and sale of assets or inventory to satisfy delinquent liabilities, including:
- Identifying lienable property
- Reviewing and assessing asset value
- Securing property
- Preparing and conducting public auctions
- Physically moving assets as needed to set up sale
- Meet performance metrics and participate in team engagement activities.
Required Skills:
- At least two consecutive positions, each held for a minimum of one full year, in a fast-paced call center environment.
- Call center experience must be from industries such as finance/banking, insurance, or telecommunications (non-technical support).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong multitasking ability in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace.
- Solid basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer engagement abilities.
- Ability to retain information and apply policies consistently.
- Creative problem-solving capabilities.
- Goal-oriented and organized.
Preferred Skills
- Associate degree or higher.
- Spanish-speaking/bilingual proficiency.
- Experience participating in process improvement initiatives.
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
