We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sandblasting Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces through abrasive blasting techniques to ensure optimal coating adhesion and surface quality. Your expertise will help us deliver high-quality industrial, commercial, and residential powder coating projects. Duties
- Operate sandblasting equipment safely and efficiently to clean and prepare metal surfaces.
- Follow strict safety regulations, including the use of respiratory protection and adherence to safety protocols during all blasting activities.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine appropriate blasting methods and surface preparation requirements.
- Assist with surface inspection using visual color comparison and other techniques to ensure proper cleanliness and readiness for painting or coating.
- Support additional tasks such as sanding, chemical pre-treatments, and housekeeping.
- Maintain equipment by performing routine inspections, cleaning, and troubleshooting power tools, hand tools, and powder coating equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project timelines are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Requirements
- Proven experience in manufacturing site environments with a focus on surface preparation or industrial painting/powder coating is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills are required.
- Familiarity with painting/powder coating surface preparation processes including power tools use and interpreting technical drawings.
- Ability to operate ladders safely and work at heights comfortably.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations related to manufacturing environments, respiratory protection use, and hazard awareness.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools and power tools.
- Excellent attention to detail with an eye for visual color comparison to ensure consistent quality in finished surfaces.
