What are the responsibilities and job description for the AMI Analyst position at Pro Search, Inc.?
We’re working with a great client in Bangor that is looking for an AMI Operations Analyst that is responsible for day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of the AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) operational systems and processes. Through the AMI systems, we collect data from customers’ electric meters which is used for power outage management, meter connects/disconnects, billing, load settlement, power quality, load analysis, and identifying potential safety issues; we provide data to various operational departments across the company and provide online usage data to our customers.
AMI Operations Analysts ensure the AMI systems are holistically working, the communication network is reliable, exceptions are addressed in a timely manner, and impacted departments are kept informed. AMI Operations Analysts prioritize serving our internal and external customers and achieving success through team collaboration and interdepartmental communication. As an API Analyst, this position requires strong technical and analytical skills, as well as positive leadership qualities and a collaborative mindset and will be cross trained to provide support across various AMI systems and processes.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor AMI software systems, including the AMI head-end, communications network director, and meter data management system.
- Assist in the proactive identification and resolution of incidents, with the goal of always maintaining reliable communication.
- Review, triage, and resolve exceptions in the various AMI software systems.
- Conduct investigation of meter events and alarms; ensure that meter-related incidents and potential safety issues are resolved in a timely and consistent manner.
- Issue field service orders to troubleshoot meters and AMI hardware that require in-person visits.
- Plan and coordinate remote meter firmware and meter configuration changes.
- Function as a team leader within AMI Operations, assisting AMI Analysts I and other AMI Analysts II.
- Liaise with internal departments to understand the internal and external customer impacts, identify process gaps and make recommendations for improvements.
- Escalate issues to internal technical support or to vendor’s support staff and assist with issue resolution as needed.
- Develop and maintain process documentation and training guides.
- Serve as an AMI subject matter expert on various projects; perform user acceptance testing for AMI system upgrades and related project work when needed.
- Keep current with industry technology developments; attend vendor training and User Conferences as needed to develop relationships with vendors and other utility users and learn about current and future AMI system capabilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including designated duties associated with System Restoration.
Qualifications:
- Excellent technical, analytical, and organizational skills required.
- Proficient in working with Microsoft Office, including advanced knowledge of MS Excel required.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems both independently and cooperatively with business peers and vendor personnel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and high levels of stress.
- Adept at learning new software and working in multiple systems.
- Excels at problem solving, data analysis, and providing timely, high-quality results.
- Positive team leadership qualities and interpersonal skills, including ability to build rapport with diverse audiences.
- Driven by opportunities for collaboration, knowledge growth and process improvements.
- Experience in a telecom or utility operations environment preferred.
- Experience with utility metering, Smart Grid technologies, Cisco technology, SSH, SQL, XML, PowerShell, data integrity, database concepts, project management, or process documentation would be notable qualifications.
