Position Summary
The Security Systems Specialist is responsible for the installation, programming, service, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic security systems. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to continually learn emerging technologies within the security industry.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, works well independently, and represents Pro Point Security professionally while interacting with customers.
Essential Responsibilities
- Install, program, service, and maintain:
- Burglar alarm systems
- Commercial and residential fire alarm systems
- Access control systems
- CCTV and IP video surveillance systems
- Video intercom systems
- Network-connected security devices
- Perform system commissioning, testing, and customer demonstrations.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and communication issues.
- Replace or upgrade existing security equipment while minimizing customer downtime.
- Read blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer documentation.
- Ensure installations comply with applicable building codes, fire codes, and industry standards.
- Complete service tickets, installation reports, and project documentation accurately and on time.
- Train customers on proper system operation, mobile applications, and best practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized work vehicle and properly manage company tools and equipment.
- Work closely with project managers, office staff, and customers to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
- Provide outstanding customer service while maintaining a professional appearance and attitude.
- Continue developing technical knowledge through manufacturer training and industry certifications.
Qualifications
- Experience installing and servicing electronic security systems.
- Working knowledge of:
- Intrusion detection systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Access control systems
- IP camera systems
- Network communications and TCP/IP
- Low-voltage wiring practices
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read technical drawings and wiring schematics.
- Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, laptops, and software applications for programming and documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing to a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, work in attics, ceilings, and other construction environments.
- Ability to pass background checks required for customer sites.

Industry certifications are a plus, including:

Requirements
- Valid Texas Driver License with a clean driving record.
- Meet all Texas licensing requirements for electronic security personnel.
- Ability to travel to customer locations throughout the Greater Houston area and surrounding regions.
- Ability to work occasional overtime or after-hours service calls when required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
