Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Kiln Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining kiln equipment to ensure efficient production processes. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing machinery, quality control, and safety protocols. The Kiln Operator plays a vital part in ensuring the quality and consistency of our products through precise operation and monitoring of kiln systems.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor kiln systems, ensuring optimal temperature, timing, and process parameters for product quality.
- Utilize advanced machinery such as CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, and fabrication tools to support production needs.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications to set up and adjust equipment accordingly.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on kiln equipment and related machinery to prevent downtime.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other tools to verify dimensions and quality standards.
- Handle materials safely using forklifts, hand tools, and materials handling equipment within the manufacturing facility.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Fanuc systems, CNC programming, CAM programming, and other automation controls.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times, including proper use of PPE and adherence to factory safety standards.
- Document operational data accurately for quality control records and process improvements.
- Support packaging, assembly line operations, fabrication tasks, welding, or tooling as needed to meet production goals.
Requirements
- Proven experience in manufacturing environments with factory experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in CNC programming, CAD software like SolidWorks, blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and machining techniques.
- Ability to operate CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, press brake machines, welding equipment, and other fabrication tools.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Experience with materials handling equipment including forklifts.
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations related to manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of quality control standards within a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical or automation issues involving Fanuc systems or PLCs.
