Part-Time Home Inspector — Job Overview
Pro Intel is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Part-Time Home Inspector to complete residential property inspections at assigned locations. This position requires traveling to and from inspection sites, thoroughly evaluating the condition of each property, identifying visible defects or safety concerns, taking clear photographs, and accurately documenting all findings.
The Home Inspector will follow Pro Intel’s policies, procedures, inspection standards, safety requirements, and reporting guidelines. The ideal candidate is professional, organized, dependable, comfortable working independently, and able to communicate clearly with clients, property owners, tenants, and team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to and from residential inspection appointments in a safe and timely manner.
- Arrive on time and represent Pro Intel in a professional manner.
- Inspect the interior and exterior of homes and residential properties.
- Evaluate visible components, including roofing, foundations, walls, ceilings, floors, windows, doors, plumbing, electrical systems, heating and cooling systems, appliances, attics, crawl spaces, garages, and other accessible areas.
- Identify and document visible defects, damage, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and potential code or compliance issues.
- Take clear, detailed photographs of inspected areas and identified defects.
- Complete accurate inspection reports using company-approved software, forms, and procedures.
- Submit reports, photographs, notes, and supporting documentation within required deadlines.
- Follow Pro Intel’s inspection checklists, quality standards, policies, and procedures.
- Communicate inspection findings clearly and professionally without making unauthorized guarantees, repair estimates, or legal conclusions.
- Contact management promptly when serious hazards, access issues, emergencies, or unusual conditions are discovered.
- Maintain confidentiality of client, property, and company information.
- Protect keys, access codes, documents, equipment, and other company property.
- Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- Keep inspection tools, technology, and equipment in good working condition.
- Attend required meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews.
- Stay informed about company procedures, inspection standards, and applicable local requirements.
- Perform other inspection-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous home inspection, construction, maintenance, property management, insurance inspection, or related experience preferred.
- Home inspector license or certification when required by state or local law.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
- Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area.
- Strong attention to detail and observation skills.
- Ability to write clear, accurate, and professional reports.
- Basic knowledge of residential building systems and common property defects.
- Comfortable using a smartphone, tablet, camera, email, GPS, and inspection-reporting software.
- Strong time-management, communication, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions.
- Dependable, honest, professional, and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness to work a flexible part-time schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends when needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb stairs for extended periods.
- Ability to safely use ladders and inspect accessible attics, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, and confined areas when permitted by company policy.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and property conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment weighing approximately 25–40 pounds.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
Work Environment
This is a field-based, part-time position. Inspectors will travel between residential properties and may encounter dust, dirt, moisture, pests, uneven surfaces, construction materials, confined spaces, and changing weather conditions. All inspections must be performed in accordance with Pro Intel’s safety requirements and established scope of work.
