Job Summary
We are seeking a versatile and skilled General Maintenance Person to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of repair, maintenance, and facility improvement tasks across residential, commercial, and manufacturing environments. This role requires a proactive individual with strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of various properties and equipment. The position offers an opportunity to apply diverse technical skills in a dynamic setting, contributing to the smooth operation of facilities.
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
- Perform repairs including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and welding as needed.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and other testing devices to identify faults.
- Utilize Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for troubleshooting automated systems.
- Maintain documentation of maintenance activities using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Supervise or assist with projects involving facilities upgrades or renovations.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations during all maintenance activities.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients or building occupants regarding maintenance requests or issues.
- Lead or supervise maintenance teams during complex projects or repairs, demonstrating leadership skills.
Experience
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance or general maintenance person roles within residential, commercial, or manufacturing settings.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in welding, electrical work, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Familiarity with schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals for troubleshooting purposes.
- Experience working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and CMMS software is preferred.
- Knowledge of residential painting techniques and general building repair practices.
- Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership capabilities in team settings.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English. This position requires a proactive approach to maintenance tasks combined with technical expertise across multiple disciplines. Candidates should be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of managing multiple priorities efficiently while providing high-quality service across various facilities.
