We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Construction Manager to support the planning, coordination, and supervision of construction projects from inception to completion. You will assist in organizing construction activities, monitoring progress, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements.
A successful Assistant Construction Manager should have a solid understanding of construction practices, strong organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate with a diverse team of professionals. The ideal candidate will be proactive, eager to learn, and capable of supporting the delivery of projects on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Assist Construction Manager in collaborating with engineers, architects, and other professionals to review project specifications.
- Support contract administration and help coordinate with external vendors and subcontractors.
- Aid in obtaining permits and licenses from appropriate authorities.
- Help determine resource needs (manpower, equipment, materials) while tracking usage against budget limitations.
- Assist in scheduling construction operations and monitoring project timelines.
- Support procurement efforts and help track inventory of materials and equipment.
- Assist in supervising onsite personnel, including laborers and mechanics, providing guidance as directed.
- Monitor daily progress, document site activities, and prepare reports for management.
- Help ensure adherence to health, safety, and quality standards and promptly report any issues.
- Perform other tasks as assigned to support the successful delivery of the project.
Skills
- Proven experience in construction support roles (Assistant Construction Manager, Project Engineer, Site Coordinator, or similar).
- Solid understanding of construction procedures, materials, and basic project management principles.
- Familiarity with quality, health, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Experience with construction or project management software is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow leadership direction.
- Fluency in Mandarin and English, with the ability to communicate clearly with Mandarin-speaking laborers on a daily basis.
Qualifications
- BSc/BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or a related field.
- Certifications such as OSHA, CMIT, or progress toward PMP are considered an advantage.
