Position Summary:
The Shop Fabrication Operator plays a critical role in in the manufacturing process by accurately operating machinery such as band saws and drill presses to cut, shape and prepare metal components for assembly. This position ensures that all fabricated parts meet precise specifications and quality standards, contributing directly to the efficiency and success of production operations. The operator will work closely with production teams to interpret blueprints and job orders, ensuring that each piece is fabricated correctly and safely. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount to prevent defects and maintain a smooth workflow in the shop, supporting the overall manufacturing goals of the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate band saws and drill presses to cut and shape metal parts according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job orders to determine the correct fabrication process.
- Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment to ensure optimal operation.
- Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy, making adjustments as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety and company policies.
- Set up rollers to flatten or roll material to a specific radius.
- Operate grinders or sanders to remove excess material/burrs from surfaces.
- Use basic hand tools including but not limited to an electric drill, air ratchet, wrenches, screwdrivers, and rivet guns.
- Spot welding.

Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating band saws and drill presses in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

Physical Requirements:
- The employee is regularly required to speak, hear, and sit for extended periods of time. Frequently the employees are required to use their hands and fingers to handle or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms. Occasionally the employee is required to stand and walk, lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include near, far, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent
