Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator II is responsible for independently leading and managing safety operations at both the division and project site levels. This role serves as a trusted technical safety resource to operational leadership and field personnel, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and customer safety requirements. The Safety Coordinator II plays a critical role in strengthening the Company’s safety culture, leading complex incident investigations, and driving continuous improvement across all safety programs and initiatives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with operations leadership to conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on safety-related matters, providing technical guidance and support to supervisors, employees, and project teams.
  • Promote and reinforce a proactive, high-performance safety culture through coaching, mentoring, field engagement, and leadership presence.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations, industry standards, Company policies, and customer requirements.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or imminent hazards threaten employees, the public, equipment, or property.
  • Identify safety trends, recurring hazards, and systemic risks, and recommend effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training programs, compliance initiatives, and educational resources to support workforce development.
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, jobsite evaluations, and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to safety standards and best practices.
  • Lead investigations involving accidents, incidents, injuries, and near-misses, including root cause analysis and corrective action follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, reports, metrics, and documentation to support regulatory compliance and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in special projects, program development initiatives, and process improvement activities related to workplace safety.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related business software applications.
  • Thorough understanding of occupational safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to effectively plan, coordinate, and execute work assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support field operations and project sites.


Education / Experience

  • Minimum of four (4) years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment, preferably within the construction industry.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • College coursework or specialized training in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within one (1) year of hire, one or more of the following professional safety certifications:
    • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
    • Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP)
    • OSHA 500 and/or OSHA 510


Licenses / Certifications

  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License with the ability to maintain insurability under the Company’s insurance carrier requirements.


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, climbing, bending, and working in outdoor environments.
  • Ability to frequently traverse active construction and industrial worksites.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work in varying weather and site conditions.


Work Environment

  • Work is performed in both office and field environments, including active construction and industrial job sites.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, uneven terrain, varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and other typical construction site conditions.
  • Position may require extended hours, weekend work, and travel based on operational needs.
