- Job Details
- Responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment.
- Assembles, distributes, and delivers disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to Operating Room, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments, and SCL Clinics.
- Operates and monitors sterilization equipment.
- Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination.
- Sterilizes, disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies and instruments, maintains records for all instruments, and transports sterilized items to the floor.
- Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments for cleanliness and/or impairment.
- Properly checks power equipment.
- Takes measures for easy instrument tracking including labeling, use of engraver, reporting and documenting missing instruments and implants replaced in trays.
- Communicates equipment and instrument inventory status with Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse including order status, back orders, and changes.
- Responds to emergency situations ensuring all emergency, trauma, and add-on cases are supplied properly and delivered to Operating Room timely.
- Utilizes applications and technology to facilitate record keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
- Provides on-the-job training to newly hired associates in the department.
- Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health and abides by service behavior standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May be required to work overtime based on business need.
- May be required to float to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications based on business need.
- May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

- Previous experience in hospital or clinic operating room preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Schedule Information
- Day shift, 8 hours per day.
- 40 hours per week.
