Job Summary
The Foundry Utility Worker is responsible for a wide variety of duties throughout the foundry areas and in support of PRL’s operation, following standard procedures or specific instructions.
Job Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Prior grinding experience a plus. Willing to train a person without experience.
Skills: Position includes the use and reading of fixed gauges and other instructions not requiring interpretation. Moderate physical effort equivalent to continuous light, frequent average, or occasional heavy manual effort applied in various ways in the performance of various job duties.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
General: Extensive mobility required, some moderate to heavy lifting. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift objects weighing more than 50 pounds; walk and stand for long periods; see objects up close; and hear normal sounds with some background noise. The position requires the ability to concentrate with some interruption and attend to tasks for 45 to 60 minutes at a time.
Environmental And Working Conditions
General: Extensive mobility required, some moderate to heavy lifting. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift objects weighing more than 50 pounds; to walk and stand for long periods; to see objects closely; to be exposed to extremely high temperatures; and to hear normal sounds with some background noise. The position requires the ability to concentrate with some interruptions and to attend to tasks for 3-4 hours at a time.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Grind large and small castings, use of band saws, pouring molds, transport metal, core knockout, transport materials, and/or equipment with either forklift, payloader, or operation of power vac.
- Assist the molder in machine set-up and clean the assigned areas.
- Repair pouring ladles.
- Detect and report all defective materials; refer questionable cases to proper supervision.
- Sort, clean, move castings and materials as required; operate shot blast cleaning equipment and fork trucks as required; sweep and clean area as directed; maintain equipment and area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Follow prescribed or standard safety regulations.
