Armed School Security Officer

Job Summary

We are seeking a vigilant and dedicated Armed School Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors within an educational environment. Duties

• Conduct thorough patrols of school grounds, hallways, entrances, and perimeter areas to deter unauthorized access and identify potential security risks.
• Manage access control systems to verify identities of students, staff, visitors, and contractors, ensuring only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
• Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, or emergency situations using established emergency response procedures.
• Operate surveillance equipment such as CCTV cameras to monitor activity across campus and detect suspicious behavior.
• Perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting of security equipment or supplies when necessary.
• Write detailed incident reports documenting security breaches, accidents, or other notable events with clarity and accuracy.
• Utilize conflict de-escalation techniques and conflict management skills to peacefully resolve disputes among students or staff.
• Execute first aid procedures including CPR and AED operation in case of medical emergencies.
• Conduct background checks on new staff or visitors as part of compliance with security regulations.
• Use firearms responsibly and safely while adhering strictly to firearm handling protocols; operate Taser devices when appropriate for self-defense or threat neutralization.
• Maintain compliance with all security policies, laws, and regulations governing school safety standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in law enforcement, military service, or private security with a focus on physical security and surveillance operations.
• Valid certification in first aid, CPR, AED operation, and Taser use; additional certifications in firearm handling preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CCTV systems, access control systems, incident report writing, and emergency response procedures.
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting safely and effectively.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, visitors, and emergency responders.
• Demonstrated conflict de-escalation and conflict management abilities in high-pressure situations.
• Familiarity with security regulations related to school environments; experience performing background checks is advantageous.
• Physical fitness capable of patrolling large areas for extended periods; ability to respond quickly during emergencies.
