Manager, Applications Development – Florida SHOTS
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manager, Applications Development to lead the development, maintenance, and optimization of the Florida SHOTS public-facing website (FLShotsusers.com).
This role is responsible for end-to-end website performance, security, content delivery, and ongoing development, ensuring a seamless and reliable user experience that supports statewide public health initiatives.
You will operate as the technical owner of the platform, balancing hands-on development with performance monitoring, system stability, and continuous improvement.
Location
Onsite – Tallahassee, FL
Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Epidemiology
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy new website features and pages
- Maintain and enhance FLShotsusers.com functionality and user experience
- Deliver up to 10 new pages annually, while refining existing content
- Monitor website performance using tools such as New Relic
- Analyze performance trends and proactively resolve issues
- Ensure optimal uptime, responsiveness, and user experience
- Manage and update the website through Drupal CMS (or similar)
- Perform CMS updates with visual regression testing to maintain integrity
- Oversee development, testing, and production environments via Pantheon.io
- Apply platform updates, patches, and security best practices
- Maintain data backup strategies and disaster recovery readiness
- Ensure compliance with all Department data security policies
- Generate and deliver website analytics and performance reports
- Provide insights on:
- User engagement
- Site performance
- Optimization opportunities
- Support billing analysis and reporting as required
- Manage newsletter and blog subscriptions through tools like Campaign Monitor
- Support content distribution and audience engagement strategies
- Ensure all website content is available and maintained in English and Spanish
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Web Development or related field
- 8 years of experience in:
- Website development and maintenance
- Full lifecycle development (design, coding, testing, deployment)
- Strong experience with:
- Drupal CMS (or similar platforms)
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript (responsive design)
- PHP and Drupal environments
- Familiarity with:
- Web hosting platforms (e.g., Pantheon.io)
- Performance monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic)
