POSITION: Banquet Captain, The Gardens at Applecross
REPORTS TO: Sales Manager, Executive Chef
JOB SUMMARY: Create a welcoming and comforting environment for guests and members, while providing the highest level of service possible. Personable and professional, with the ability to interact warmly with clients on their most important day.
Ability to produce a well thought out game plan for each event, demonstrating strong leadership and guidance to all employees on the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Supervision & Lineups: Conduct pre-shift lineups with staff, inspect uniforms, review assignments, and go over steps of service for each event. Assign, train, and manage banquet servers and bartenders to ensure smooth, efficient service.
- Event Execution: Lead set-up, service, and breakdown of weddings and events according to BEO specifications. Ensure front and back of the house are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Client Liaison: Greet the host (on-site contact) for assigned event(s) and remain in contact throughout. Serve as a point of contact for clients, review agendas, and handle any on-site needs or requests.
- Coordination: Work closely with the Sales Manager and Executive Chef to ensure all event details are executed as planned.
- Quality Control: Inspect event spaces, including room setups, linens, table settings, and food presentation prior to guest arrival. Know the menu for each function and be able to explain major ingredients and preparation methods.
- Communication: Coordinate with the kitchen to ensure proper timing and execution of meal services.
- Operations Oversight: Monitor staff throughout events to ensure responsibilities are carried out properly and efficiently. Ability to manage and close events independently when the Director of Events is not present.
- Scheduling Support: Potential opportunity to assist with staff scheduling.
Qualifications:
- Prior banquet, catering, or event leadership experience preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
- Personable and professional, with the ability to interact warmly with clients on their most important day
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledgeable about food and beverage service, menu items, and presentation standards
- Availability for evenings and weekends
Compensation:
- Part-time position from $20.00 per hour
- Gratuity is at the discretion of the client, but typically included
RAMPS and Safe Serve Certification
