Requirements:
1) Mature with 10 years experience providing direct home care
2) Someone with limited personal commitments and who is looking for this to be their primary job commitment.
3) Must be able to safely physically manage someone (145lbs) who at times has limited ability to bear weight, challenge standing up-right and/or maintaining postural control
Current shift openings:
Mon: 7-11a; 3-7p (4hr break in shift during dialysis)
Tues: 7a-7p
Wed: 7-11a; 3-7p (4hr break in shift during dialysis)
Thurs: 7a-7p
Fri: 7-11a; 3-7p (4hr break in shift during dialysis)
Location: Salisbury, Maryland
Job Summary: Help daughter care for her 81 year old father by safely facilitating activities of daily living, physical and speech therapy routines, transportation to/from dialysis, and providing daily enrichment.
Medical history: End stage renal failure (ESRD), prior strokes, high BP, cardiovascular and carotid artery disease, prior falls.
Reports To: Daughter, who manages all aspects of father’s care and the home care operation.
Additional Qualifications:
· CNA/GNA ***current or recent past***
· Reliable, responsible, compassionate, highly personable and engaging.
· Demonstrate excellent communication skills with both client and client’s family.
- Physically able to SAFELY aid in lifting, bathing and supporting another person.
- Have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive.
- Respectful and eager to learn about client’s specific disability and needs.
- Respect client’s autonomy, independence, and dignity.
- Able to take direction and feedback.
- Once trained, must be a self-starter who can complete responsibilities with little direction.
· Prior experience working with Seniors with mobility challenges.
· COVID vaccinated.
Main Responsibilities:
- Help complete all activities of daily living, including:
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Transfers to and from bed; wheelchair; toilet; shower chair; sofa/chair; car
- Toileting
- Medication administration, blood pressure
- Repositioning in bed
- Getting to/from dialysis (MWF)
- Help with mobility in the home with platform walker and wheelchair and during PT prescribed exercises.
- Complete instrumental activities of daily living, including:
- Light cleaning of daily use areas (kitchen, bathroom, living area); surface wipe and vacuum
- Laundry (clothes, towels, bed linens)
- Meal prep and cooking
- Run errands, including grocery shopping, personal needs shopping, pharmacy, etc.
- Make bed and change bed linens
- Evacuate in emergency situations
- Attend community activities
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Functions:
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Maintain standard precautions.
- Call daughter immediately to discuss injury, illness or recent exposure to someone who is sick to discuss whether or not it is safe to come to work.
- Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
- Create a positive work environment with open communication and teamwork with other caregivers.
- Use caregiver log to record completion of daily responsibilities and notes regarding fathers’ status.
