Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, manage appointment scheduling, and coordinate patient flow using dental office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating medical histories in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing excellent customer service and appointment confirmations
- Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring proper CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and billing procedures are followed for insurance claims
- Support clinical staff by managing medical records, filing documents, and handling administrative tasks related to health information management
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a dental or medical office environment with strong familiarity with dental terminology and clinical confidentiality policies
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms; experience with Epic or Meditech is a plus
- Knowledge of health insurance processes including verification, Medicare procedures, and medical billing practices
- Skilled in medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), documentation review, and care plan coordination
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; typing speed of at least 10 key digits per second is preferred
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, data entry, and office management tasks
- Exceptional phone etiquette and customer service skills to create positive patient interactions from scheduling to follow-up
