Assembly Technician II & III – Electrical / Wire Harness

Pay:

  • Technician II: $24–$27/hour
  • Technician III: $28–$30/hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Assembly Technicians II and III to join a precision manufacturing team supporting the production of electrical and wire harness assemblies. These positions are responsible for assembling, soldering, crimping, inspecting, and testing components in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, travelers, and customer specifications.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with wire harness assembly, cable preparation, crimping, soldering, and precision assembly and is comfortable working to tight tolerances and established workmanship standards. Aerospace or contract manufacturing experience is highly preferred.

What You’ll Do

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, work instructions, and assembly notes
  • Review travelers and production documentation for correct part numbers, revisions, quantities, and specifications
  • Inspect materials and components for damage, defects, or discrepancies
  • Prepare cables by cutting, de-jacketing, stripping, and other required processes
  • Perform hand crimping on 8–28 AWG wire using stamped and machined contacts
  • Perform basic soldering, including tinning and use of both leaded and lead-free solder
  • Identify and properly handle leaded and lead-free solder
  • Perform potting and assembly tasks involving boots, connectors, breakouts, and related components
  • Build electrical assemblies to specified critical dimensions and tolerances
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality and workmanship requirements are met
  • Follow IPC/WHMA-A-620 and other applicable workmanship standards
  • Complete and sign travelers and production documentation at each required process step
  • Properly identify, package, and label components and finished assemblies
  • Use hand tools, inspection equipment, and measuring devices as required
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow all safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Technician II Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in electrical assembly, wire harness assembly, cable assembly, or a similar manufacturing environment
  • At least 1 year of soldering experience
  • At least 1 year of wire harness assembly experience
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and electrical schematics
  • Experience with wire stripping, crimping, cable preparation, and hand tools
  • Basic knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain critical dimensions
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong manual dexterity and visual attention to detail
  • Aerospace or contract manufacturing experience preferred

Technician III Qualifications

In addition to the Technician II qualifications, candidates for Level III should demonstrate advanced hands-on proficiency in electrical and wire harness assembly, including:

  • Strong experience interpreting complex engineering drawings and schematics
  • Advanced wire harness and cable assembly experience
  • Ability to independently perform crimping, soldering, cable preparation, potting, and precision assembly
  • Strong understanding of IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship requirements
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot assembly or workmanship issues
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience working with tight tolerances and critical dimensions
  • Ability to assist with training or mentoring less-experienced technicians
  • Aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience highly preferred
  • J-STD-001 certification preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods
  • Sit and perform detailed, station-based work for extended periods
  • Perform repetitive hand and wrist movements
  • Demonstrate good vision and manual dexterity for detailed assembly work
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation
  • Follow all workplace safety requirements and immediately report unsafe conditions
