About us
We are a family looking for a Direct Care Support Professional for our young adult son who is severely disabled.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to an individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in a residential setting towards attainment of goals set forth in ISP
- Assist client with preparation of daytime activities and personal hygiene including, but not limited to: daily shower, dental hygiene, dressing client, trimming/filing nails, changing briefs/attends, weekly laundry
- Handle emergency situations appropriately following established protocols and ensure safety and well-being of resident at all times.
- Perform daily record keeping, data collections, charting and daily logs using record keeping software as well as paper and exchange information with next/previous shift’s staff
- Foster a positive and supportive environment for I/DD
- Operation of Hoyer Lift to transfer client in and out of positioning equipment, bed and wheelchair
- Ability to lift 90lbs
- Administer medication according to prescribed schedules and document accurately.
- Administer water flushes using G/J feeding tube system
- Set up nightly feed using Kangaroo Joey Pump system
- Assist with leisure activities including, but not limited to, interacting with toys and adaptive equipment
- Take client outside for walks and spend time outside for outdoor stimulation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of living space and spaces where client frequently inhabits
- Willingness to complete required training and/or certifications required
Skills:
- Ability to lift and transfer individuals with disabilities safely.
- Experience in childcare or working with individuals with special needs is preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certification required
- Familiarity with resident rights and regulations governing the provision of services to individuals with disabilities.
- Understanding of medication administration protocols and procedures.
- Knowledge of hospice care principles is beneficial.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
