Technology Portfolio Lead

What we are looking for:

Private Advisor Group is seeking a Technology Portfolio Lead to turn business priorities into technology improvements that strengthen the advisor experience, improve back-office efficiency, and equip employees to best serve our advisors. Based at our Morristown, NJ headquarters, this position reports to the Head of Business Operations.

This role combines product management with project delivery. You will serve as the internal owner of the firm's technology roadmap and as the product lead for our external development partner, which provides a dedicated engineering team for the firm's systems. Working directly with business unit leaders and firm leadership, you will set priorities, define requirements, oversee delivery and acceptance, and be accountable for the adoption of each initiative. You will also support the firm's AI acceleration initiative, helping identify where AI tools can meaningfully improve the day-to-day work of our employees.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as product lead for our external development partner, setting priorities, refining business requirements, and overseeing delivery through testing, implementation, and adoption.
• Partner with business units to translate needs into clear requirements. Develop a deep understanding of our processes and data to identify opportunities for better approaches.
• Own the technology portfolio end to end, maintaining a clear view of the pipeline, requirements, business impact, and timing for every request, and ensuring each initiative has an identified business owner.
• Report portfolio status to leadership, including timelines, risks, and decisions required, and provide transparency into prioritization and trade-offs.
• Review existing technology spend and usage to identify underused tools, workflows that can be simplified, and costs that can be reduced.
• Support the firm's AI acceleration initiative by running AI and automation pilots with relevant teams, evaluating usefulness, accuracy, and data handling, and bringing successful pilots into regular use.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 5 years of experience in technology portfolio or product management, project management, business analysis, or consulting, with direct ownership of implementations and their outcomes.
• Experience as product owner for a development team or vendor, including prioritization, requirements, backlog management, and acceptance of delivered work.
• Ability to work effectively between business and technical teams, with enough fluency in process and data models to evaluate proposals from both sides.
• Strong business judgment, including the ability to weigh costs against benefits and make a supported recommendation.
• Clear written and presentation skills, including the ability to produce concise materials leaders can use to make decisions.
• Strong organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage several initiatives at once.
• Practical interest in AI and automation, with a realistic understanding of current capabilities and limitations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Wealth management experience, particularly within an RIA, broker-dealer, custodian, or wealth technology provider. Broader financial services experience is also valuable.
• Experience evaluating software vendors, managing a technology budget, or contributing to roadmap and investment decisions.
• Ability to perform data analysis and use reporting tools to investigate business questions independently.

Compensation:

Base salary of $100,000 - $140,000 depending on experience, with the opportunity for a $20,000 - $30,000 annual bonus based on performance.
