About the Role
Primary Job Functions
- This full‑time position involves providing direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities in both their home and community settings. The role focuses on promoting independence, ensuring safety, and enhancing quality of life through active engagement in personalized programs and daily activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support individuals with daily living skills (hygiene, mobility, budgeting, chores).
- Follow individualized plans to promote independence and personal growth.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and personalized home environment.
- Administer medications accurately and perform routine/emergency medical procedures.
- Document activities, incidents, fire drills, data collection, and financial transactions.
- Transport individuals to appointments, activities, and community outings.
- Implement behavior plans and use crisis intervention techniques when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, day programs, families, and coworkers.
- Participate in household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and maintain reliable attendance.
- Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Always treat individuals with dignity, respect, and professionalism.
Secondary Duties
- Participate in team meetings.
- Collaborate with agency volunteers to support program needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Experience or commitment to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs.
- Additional experience/education may be considered.
