Director of Nursing, Women’s & Children’s Services
The Director of Women’s & Children’s Services provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, NICU/Nursery, and Pediatric services. This leader is responsible for driving excellence in patient care, safety, quality outcomes, and patient experience while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth. The Director partners closely with physicians, nursing leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure evidence-based, family-centered care is delivered across the continuum. This role requires a dynamic, visible leader who can balance day-to-day operations with long-term strategic vision to advance service line growth and performance.
Strategic Leadership
- Provides vision and direction for Women’s & Children’s Services aligned with organizational priorities
- Leads service line growth, program development, and market positioning initiatives
- Collaborates with executive leadership to drive system-level goals and performance
Clinical & Operational Excellence:
- Ensures high-quality, safe, and evidence-based care across L&D, Postpartum, NICU/Nursery, and Pediatrics
- Monitors and improves key performance indicators including quality, safety, throughput, and patient experience
- Leads regulatory readiness and compliance with all applicable standards (e.g., TJC, CMS, state regulations)
People Leadership & Culture:
- Builds and sustains a high-performing leadership team and engaged workforce
- Promotes a culture of accountability, psychological safety, and professional development
- Supports recruitment, retention, and succession planning efforts
Financial Stewardship:
- Develops and manages departmental budgets with accountability for productivity and financial performance
- Identifies opportunities for operational efficiency and cost containment while maintaining quality
Collaboration & Physician Partnership:
- Establishes strong, collaborative relationships with medical staff and key stakeholders
- Leads interdisciplinary efforts to improve outcomes and patient experience
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (or eligibility)
- Progressive leadership experience in Women’s and/or Children’s Services
- Demonstrated experience leading multiple clinical areas (e.g., L&D, NICU, Pediatrics)
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards
Preferred:
- Doctorate (DNP, PhD, or related field)
- National certification (e.g., NEA-BC, RNC-OB, CENP, or related)
- Experience in service line development and growth strategies
