Job Summary

Maintains knowledge of and adheres to infection control guidelines, patient privacy regulations and clinic policies/procedures.
Essential Functions

- Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments
- Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Preparing patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating and draping patient; and educating patients by giving oral hygiene and postoperative instructions.
- Assists in managing dental and medical emergencies
- Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.
- Assists clinic coordinator with maintaining dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; and communicating supply needs to coordinator for ordering.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
- Education - Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting Program
- Experience - No experience required. One (1) year dental assistant experience preferred.
- In lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, must have at least ten (10) years of experience as a dental assistant.
- Must obtain and maintain a Nitrous Oxide Certification from the Board of Dentistry from the state in which work is performed within 3 months of hire.
- CPR certification
- Experience with EPIC Wisdom - preferred
