Position Overview
The Digital Bindery Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of bindery equipment to complete the final stages of the print production process. This includes folding, cutting, stitching, trimming, binding, and packaging printed materials. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and experienced in operating commercial bindery equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain bindery equipment, including folders, cutters, saddle stitchers, collators, and perfect binders.
- Review job tickets and specifications to ensure accuracy and quality throughout the production process.
- Inspect finished materials for quality control and adherence to customer specifications.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with press operators and production staff to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Package, label, and prepare completed materials for shipment or delivery.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
- Accurately record production data, machine settings, and job outcomes.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of bindery or finishing experience in a commercial printing environment.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, job tickets, and production instructions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, sit, kneel, and crouch throughout the shift.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Regular use of hands to operate machinery and handle printed materials.
