Position Overview
We are looking for a versatile Designer / Prepress Operator who can bring creativity and technical precision to our team. This dual role combines graphic design with prepress production, supporting both client projects and internal initiatives. The ideal candidate has a sharp eye for design, a thorough understanding of print production, and the ability to manage high-volume, fast-turn projects without sacrificing accuracy or creativity.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Creative Production
- Collaborate with account managers, sales executives, and internal teams to plan, design, and execute projects that meet client expectations and deadlines.
- Design and produce marketing collateral, digital ads, social media graphics, and other creative assets for clients and internal campaigns.
- Maintain brand standards by ensuring accuracy in color, logos, typography, and other brand elements.
- Pre-flight and prepare creative files for print, verifying resolution, color builds, bleeds, fonts, and file setup.
- Support in estimating design time, reviewing scopes of work, and completing customization requests within tight turnaround times.
Prepress & Print Production
- Prepare Mac-based prepress files for digital, offset, and web press printing, including packaging, books, menus, signage, and specialty items (die-cut, foil, emboss, etc.).
- Perform application file prep, color management, proofing, plate-making, trimming, and QC checks.
- Use industry-standard prepress software (e.g., Kodak Prinergy, Preps, HP Smartstream, FusionPro, XMPie, Pitstop) alongside Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).
- Ensure proper quality control procedures are followed to maintain accuracy and consistency across all projects.
- Suggest workflow improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and collaborative workspace.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat); After Effects a plus.
- Experience with prepress workflows and imposition software (Kodak Prinergy, Preps, and related tools).
- Strong understanding of print production, including grand format, vehicle wraps, and specialty finishing.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to balance creativity with technical precision.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle high-volume, quick-turn projects.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; professional and collaborative approach with internal teams and clients.
- Proactive problem-solving abilities and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2–5 years of combined design, prepress, or print production experience.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Design, Visual Communications, or related field preferred.
- Technical: Computer literate with experience in prepress software, MIS systems, MS Office, email, and internet applications.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, business periodicals, and client requirements; must communicate clearly with team members and management.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, kneel, and crouch as needed; must lift/move up to 50 pounds.
