Low Voltage Technician Full Time Engineering Job Summary: The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for installing, connecting, and maintaining low-voltage cabling and electronic systems. This role includes performing system diagnostics, ensuring proper functionality, and communicating effectively with clients regarding system operation. The technician will also troubleshoot issues, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure all work meets quality and safety standards. Duties/ Responsibilities: Perform pre-termination tasks such as organizing, dressing, forming, labeling cables, and determining proper length and slack. Properly suspend and support cable using trays, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapeze systems. Terminate low-voltage devices and install grounding for racks, equipment, and cabling as needed. Complete fire-stopping procedures, install sleeves, and pull cable through sleeves and core penetrations. Conduct routine diagnostics, performance tests, and troubleshooting to resolve system malfunctions. Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, installations, modifications, and troubleshooting steps. Prepare technical reports for management and clients regarding system status, performance, and required upgrades. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure installations meet project specifications. Verify systems meet all quality and functional requirements, performing final inspections before project completion. Accurately complete all required Prism PSG paperwork, including timesheets, work orders, material transfers, and change orders. Adhere to company, customer, and industry safety and quality regulations. Run and connect wiring for low-voltage electronic systems using blueprints, schematics, and other guides. Organize and label wiring for clarity and future reference. Qualifications: Highschool diploma or relevant technical certifications. 1-2 years of experience in low-voltage or communications installation. BICSI certification (e.g., Technician, Installer I) preferred. Working knowledge of low-voltage and telecommunications systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong ability to follow instructions. Proficiency with testing equipment (e.g., Fluke, OTDR), termination tools, and cable routing methods. Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams. Excellent communication and time-management skills. Basic understanding of construction practices preferred. Familiarity with electrical building codes. Safety-minded with strong attention to detail. Strong customer service skills. Ability to lift 50-75 pounds as needed. Ability to work at heights, on ladders and in confined spaces. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
