Sales Associate (Paint)

Key Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Understands customer needs and assist them in determining appropriate products and services.
• Able to tint and mix paint and stain, and color match to fulfill customer orders.
• Assist customers in the color selection process and articulate the features and benefits of different paint lines.
• Ensure the presentation of the showroom, color decision area, and sundry shelving remains clean and organized.
• Stocks shelves, set up displays, clean store equipment, load/unload trucks.
• Completes sales transactions accurately. Follows all cash handling and safety and security policies during shift.
• Understands and applies all store standards, procedures and policies.
• Provides the highest degree of customer service, assisting multiple customers at a time, with a sense of urgency and follow-through.
• Acts with integrity and honesty maintaining a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events.

Basic Qualifications

• Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
• Available to work flexible hours that may include mornings, evenings, weekends
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow store operating policies and standards.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read, comprehend, write and communicate clearly
• Ability to understand and communicate technical information to customers in an understandable format
• Learn mix procedures and tint products with accuracy.
• Learn the basics of paint technology, including color matching, primers, stains, and decorative painting techniques.
• The ability to act with a customer comes first attitude, fulfilling their needs with the correct product.
• Basic math skills, with the ability to read and write paint color formulas accurately.
• Basic understanding of sundry items.
• Ability to work as a part of a team
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
• Bilingual preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Physical Requirements This position is required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently, with occasional lifting of up to 100lbs. There may involve the handling of drums and heavy equipment in excess of 100 lbs with assistance. A sales associate will spend most of their time walking and standing, with approximately 10% of that involving stooping, climbing, and kneeling. The position inherently involves tinting paint to specific colors, and therefore applicants must have good color perception. The employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via the telephone. They must also be able to operate a hand truck and/or material handling equipment in stores that have such equipment. In stores where employees may be required to make deliveries, the employee must be able to drive a car or van.

Weekly day range:

• Monday to Saturday
• 5 days on, 1 day off in addition to Sundays

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Retail Associates & Cashiers: 1 year (Preferred)
• Familiarity with paint products and application methods (Preferred)

Work Location: In person

Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour
