The Forklift / Electric Pallet Jack Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment used throughout the facility. This role ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards to support uninterrupted warehouse and production operations.
Job description:
- Perform preventive maintenance on forklifts, electric pallet jacks, reach trucks, and related material handling equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and battery-related issues.
- Repair and replace components including motors, controllers, brakes, steering systems, forks, wheels, and hydraulic systems.
- Inspect equipment regularly to identify safety hazards and operational deficiencies.
- Maintain and service industrial batteries and charging systems.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Complete maintenance records, work orders, and inspection reports accurately.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area.
- Coordinate with warehouse and production personnel regarding equipment availability and repair schedules.
- Assist with facility maintenance projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2 years of experience repairing and maintaining forklifts, electric pallet jacks, or similar industrial equipment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Experience with battery-powered material handling equipment preferred.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals.
- Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Forklift maintenance certification or equivalent training is a plus.
