Math Teacher: Middle and High School (Part Time)

Job Overview

Qualifications: Holds or is in process of holding a Vermont Department of Education educator license (minimum- must have a mathematics bachelors degree). Has experience with teaching to all types of students and a willingness to learn and try multiple methods to help each student achieve academic success. Demonstrates capacity to understand agency policies and procedures regarding the care and supervision of students referred by school districts. Experience in managing child and adolescent behaviors and ability to understand factors which improve or negatively affect student behaviors in school and community settings. Reliable, conscientious, and able to transmit and receive communication as necessary to provide consistent, high-quality services to student population.

Duties

• Planning for, creating, and implementing curriculum for students as assigned. Curriculum and lessons will meet students where they are at academically, while adhering to all needs associated with a student’s EST/504/IEP plan.
• Meeting with the Director, Assistant Director, Special Educator, and other staff as needed to verify curriculum is meeting all standards necessary for each student.
• Providing feedback for progress reports/report cards, completing teacher reports for students and/or forms from physicians, etc., attending school meetings as necessary, and being a voice for the students in our program.
• Providing students with a variety of learning experiences in multiple formats. These include academic instruction at the site or in community settings; indoor and outdoor recreational activities, social skills acquisition and practice through discussion and activities (one-to-one or in small groups, sometimes with other instructors). These responsibilities are in conjunction with the Administrators’ plan for each individual student and will include a multitude of fun, productive, and safe endeavors for each student. Flexibility and creativity are highly important attributes for the successful performance of this responsibility.
• Insisting all behavioral expectations are met before proceeding with academic work. This allows each student to be ‘present’ and ready to learn!
• Participating in the daily luncheon at the to work with other staff to provide an enjoyable and convivial mid-day experience for students, staff, and visitors.
• Assist with upkeep of the buildings, particularly your classroom space, and help maintain a clutter-free, well cleaned, and effective workspace for students and staff.
• In conjunction with Administrators and others, participating in a re-integration plan with activities and visits for students returning for a partial or full day at their sending schools.
• Providing a fun and positive approach; however, monitor for and support respectful and socially appropriate behavior throughout each segment of each day by each student.

Salary reference is based on part-time work. Full-time can be negotiated and allows all benefits to be accessed.

Pay: $39,052.97 - $41,840.25 per year
