Job Overview
Priority Patient Transport is seeking a full-time Non-Emergency Medical Transport (NEMT) Driver for our Staunton location. The schedule is 8a–6p, Monday through Friday, plus every third Saturday from 8a–4p. This role provides non-emergency medical transportation services throughout the Shenandoah Valley and Central Virginia.
Compensation: $15.00–$18.50 per hour, based on experience.
Applicants must maintain an approved driving record, hold a current CPR certification, and demonstrate professionalism, safety, and compassion when assisting patients.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have an approved driving record (as determined by company insurance underwriters)
- Must have a clean criminal background history
- Must pass a 10-panel drug screening
- Must possess a current CPR certification card
- Prior experience in patient transport, customer service, or healthcare is preferred but not required
Core Competencies
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in person, over the phone, and through telecommunications using the English language
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to safely assist patients and operate equipment
- Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, and walk on uneven surfaces
- Ability to lift, push, or pull patients safely using proper body mechanics and assistive devices (wheelchairs, stretchers, walkers, etc.)
- Meets minimum vision and hearing requirements necessary to safely operate a motor vehicle within the state
- Demonstrates professionalism, compassion, and empathy when interacting with patients, families, and healthcare staff
Description of Tasks
- Receive and acknowledge dispatch calls or texts promptly; use GPS to identify efficient routes to pickup and drop-off locations
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport patients to and from medical appointments, hospitals, nursing facilities, and private residences
- Maintain assigned vehicle in clean, organized, and operable condition; restock required supplies as needed
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections (check oil, gas, battery, radiator water, and tire pressure) and report maintenance issues immediately
- Verify all required safety and patient assistance equipment is present and in good working order
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures
- Assist patients safely in and out of vehicles, ensuring proper securement of mobility devices and seat belts
- Maintain current certification and complete assigned continuing education courses in Target Solutions
- Maintain CPR certification (must remain current; renewal required prior to expiration)
- Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts and transports; communicate promptly with dispatch if delays occur
- Interact with dispatchers, supervisors, coworkers, patients, family members, and facility staff in a professional, courteous manner
- Complete transport documentation and patient care reports accurately and in compliance with company standards
- Respond to all transport assignments promptly, efficiently, and safely
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual
