What You’ll be Doing (Job Details):
The AIT Program is a full-time, multi-month program in which the AIT obtains practical on-the-job training in a nursing home environment under the direct supervision of an experienced Administrator preceptor/mentor.
The training program includes:
Rotation through the various departments and duties in a skilled nursing facility; education on the interrelationships of the facility with outside parties and government agencies (such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services); and a study of regulations and requirements associated with the operation of a skilled nursing facility. Other topics of education for those in the AIT position include business/fiscal accounting management and principles of risk management and health care compliance. AIT candidates must meet the minimum regulatory requirements for licensure in Texas. An Administrator’s long-term success in the role is limited only by his/her own performance and motivation.

Previous experience working in a skilled nursing facility, nursing home, or comparable long‑term care environment is required.
- The right candidate must be passionate about serving and protecting the frail, sick and elderly. Has a professional and tactful demeanor allowing him/her to effectively deal with personnel, residents/patients, family members, visitors, physicians, government agencies/personnel, and the general public even under stressful or emotional circumstances.
- An inspirational leader and mentor who brings out the best in his/her managers and staff.
- Possesses a keen sense of business management guided by a strong set of values and ethics.
- Prior business management experience preferred.
- MBA or MHA preferred, but other advanced degrees or a Bachelor’s Degree will be considered.
