Position Overview
The Regional Maintenance Director oversees the physical plant operations, safety compliance, and preventative maintenance programs across multiple nursing home facilities within an assigned region. This role ensures that all buildings, grounds, and equipment are maintained to the highest standards to support resident safety, comfort, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise and support facility-level maintenance managers and teams.
- Develop and implement regional maintenance policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Provide training and mentorship to ensure consistent standards across facilities.
- Facility Maintenance & Safety
- Ensure all nursing home facilities comply with local, state, and federal regulations (including CMS, OSHA, and life safety codes).
- Oversee preventative maintenance schedules for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, and medical equipment.
- Coordinate inspections, audits, and corrective action plans.
- Capital Planning & Budget Management
- Develop annual maintenance budgets for each facility and monitor expenditures.
- Collaborate with executive leadership on capital improvement projects.
- Negotiate vendor contracts and manage relationships with external service providers.
Emergency Preparedness
- Establish and maintain disaster recovery and emergency response protocols.
- Ensure facilities are equipped and staff are trained for emergencies (fire, severe weather, power outages).
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
- Implement technology solutions to streamline maintenance operations.
- Monitor performance metrics and report outcomes to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- 7 years of progressive maintenance leadership experience, with at least 3 years in a multi-site healthcare or senior living environment.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, safety codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, capital projects, and vendor contracts.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel frequently within the assigned region.
