USPS Contract Mail Carrier (1099) – Ocean Shores, WA

Priority Logistics Services is looking for a dependable, highly motivated independent contractor to deliver mail on a USPS contract route based out of the Ocean Shores Post Office.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, likes being outdoors, and wants the opportunity to grow with a veteran-owned company.
Schedule
- Typically 2–3 days per week year-round.
- Some periods of the year may require 5–6 days per week for several weeks at a time, so flexibility is important.
- No work on Sundays or Federal Holidays.
Pay
- $200 per day if you provide your own right-hand drive (RHD) vehicle.
- $150 per day if we arrange an RHD vehicle lease for you through one of our partner companies.
Once you become proficient, the route is typically completed in 5–6 hours.
About the Route
- Approximately 12 miles each day.
- Over 120 turns, making route memorization the biggest challenge.
- Accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail are critical.
Vehicle Requirements
You must provide your own vehicle.
Because mail is delivered from the right side of the vehicle, this route requires a right-hand drive (RHD) vehicle.
Options include:
- Purchasing an RHD vehicle (many are available starting around $5,000).
- Installing an aftermarket RHD conversion kit in your existing vehicle (typically $300–$800).
- Leasing an RHD vehicle through one of our partner companies if needed.
Mid-size SUVs and vans work well for this route.
Qualifications
- No prior mail delivery experience required.
- Route delivery experience is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Comfortable learning a challenging route and working in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to pass any USPS contractor requirements.

Duties
- Safely operate box trucks and other delivery vehicles, adhering to all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safe lifting practices
- Load and unload mail and packages using forklifts or pallet jacks, ensuring proper weight handling in the workplace
- Drive assigned routes efficiently, following planned schedules and optimizing delivery times
- Manually handle heavy items with proper techniques to prevent injury and ensure safety during load & unload processes
- Deliver mail and parcels directly to customers’ doorsteps or designated drop-off points while maintaining professional customer service standards
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and incident reports as required
- Follow all safety protocols related to manual transmission driving, heavy lifting, and moving operations
Experience
- Prior warehouse experience or commercial driving background preferred
- Hands-on experience with box trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, or similar equipment is highly advantageous
- Proven delivery driver experience demonstrating safe driving practices and route management skills
- Knowledge of heavy lifting techniques and safe manual handling practices in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with DOT regulations related to commercial vehicle operation and weight handling in the workplace
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently and responsibly
- Strong customer service skills with a professional attitude when interacting with clients during deliveries
