Job Goal:
The Information Technology Technician is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support for Priority Charter Schools' technology infrastructure, devices, and users. This position assists staff and students with technology needs, maintains accurate inventory records, prepares and deploys devices, manages user accounts, and supports the overall operation of the district's technology systems.
The IT Technician works under the supervision of the Director of Technology or Executive Director of Operations and serves as a frontline resource for technology-related issues throughout the district
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
•High school diploma or GED required.
•Associate degree or technical certification in Information Technology preferred.
•Experience supporting Windows, ChromeOS, Google Workspace, and basic networking.
•Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
•Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
•Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Technology Inventory and Asset Management
•Maintain an accurate inventory of all district technology assets.
•Track the location, assignment, and condition of all computers, Chromebooks, tablets, printers, networking equipment, and related technology assets.
•Conduct periodic inventory audits and report discrepancies.
•Maintain records of device repairs, replacements, warranties, and lifecycle status.
Device Deployment and Management
•Configure, prepare, and deploy laptops, desktops, and Chromebooks for staff and students.
•Install operating systems, software, applications, and updates.
•Prepare devices for new hires and student enrollment.
•Collect, reimage, and redeploy devices as needed.
•Ensure devices comply with district security standards.
User Account Administration
•Create, modify, and disable staff and student email accounts.
•Manage Google Workspace accounts and user settings.
•Assist with password resets and account recovery.
•Maintain user permissions and access controls as assigned.
Technical Support
•Provide first-level technical support to staff and students.
•Troubleshoot hardware, software, printing, and connectivity issues.
•Respond to help desk requests in a timely manner.
•Escalate complex issues when necessary.
Network Support
•Possess a basic understanding of networking concepts, including:
oIP addressing
oWireless networking
oNetwork switches
oInternet connectivity
oNetwork troubleshooting
•Assist with the installation and maintenance of network equipment.
•Report network outages and performance issues.
Technology Maintenance
•Perform routine maintenance on district technology equipment.
•Maintain printers, projectors, interactive displays, and classroom technology.
•Coordinate repairs with vendors when necessary.
•Monitor equipment performance and recommend replacements.
Documentation and Reporting
•Maintain accurate technology records and documentation.
•Generate inventory and asset reports as requested.
•Document troubleshooting procedures and solutions.
•Maintain records of service requests and completed work.
Other Duties
•Assist with technology projects and district initiatives.
•Support campus events requiring technology setup.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems.
•Knowledge of Google Workspace administration.
•Knowledge of Chromebook management.
•Basic understanding of network infrastructure and troubleshooting.
•Ability to maintain accurate inventory records.
•Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
•Ability to lift and move technology equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Performance Expectations
Success in this position requires maintaining an accurate technology inventory, timely deployment of devices, effective user support, proper management of email and user accounts, and prompt resolution of technology issues. The IT Technician is expected to proactively identify and address technology needs while ensuring district assets are properly tracked and maintained.
