One of our primary activities is forecasting the outcome of the day-ahead auction where trading takes place for the delivery of electricity on the next day.
We are looking for a highly motivated trainee to join our Houston team for an opportunity to become one of our next top traders. Can we count you in for the challenge? You will be Priogen’s first US trainee who, in collaboration with our Amsterdam team, will assist in building and co-creating the US traineeship in Houston for future cohorts.
What you will do?
The traineeship at Priogen provides you with the opportunity to explore a diverse range of aspects of energy trading, from research and development to data analysis to trading and to ultimately start actively trading in the US power and natural gas markets. The training comprises of four key learning objectives:
- Understanding all aspects of the pricing of US power and natural gas.
- Learning about the trading tools and fundamentals.
- Grasping how the traders combine price forecasting with trading, so that you can operationally manage your own energy portfolio.
- Developing power forecasting and pricing models.
Your Profile
- Interest and passion for working in the energy sector and power trading
- Master's Degree in Econometrics, Engineering, Finance, Economics or a related discipline
- Experience in power markets is a plus
- Strong numerical and analytical skills to use data to make decisions
- Advanced Excel, i.e. Macros, VBA, Pivot tables, etc.
- Able to code in Python and R
- Experience with SQL or other database applications
- Able to absorb new information readily and to put it into practice effectively.
- Able to work effectively with others in order to achieve a shared goal - even when the object at stake is of no direct personal interest.
- Able to process detailed information effectively and consistently.
- Able to recognize and create opportunities and to act accordingly rather than passively waiting for things to happen.
- Able to perform under pressure
- Fluent in English
