What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prepress Operator position at Printing Industries Association Inc.?
Pre Press Operator
As is common in the industry of commercial print production today, the role of pre-press technicians has evolved to be commonly referred to simply as “Mac Operator”. Pre-press operators are expected to have sufficient industry experience and aptitude to fully understand the requirements of job preparation and the skill to carry out those requirements, including file preparation, outputting of proofs and plates and job archiving. Listed below are the primary functions pertinent to this position.
1. Receiving files, FTP, Disc, etc.
2. After files have been received the operator will create a job folder on the server and organize the files. (see sample)
3. Preflight and preparation of the customer files
4. When corrections are made update all areas needed (Imposition)
5. RGB files procedure see below
6. Fill out EPP preflight ticket
7. Coordinate job efforts with CSR, Sales & or Customers (If necessary)
8. Imposition (Layout for specific Press)
9. Plate & Press rule ups
10. Double check imposition and corrections
11. Imaging & punching plates
12. Minor system administration
13. Archiving work and ripped files
14. Proofing & assembling them
15. Restock materials: plates, chemicals, tape, etc.
16. Clean up work area: workstations, light table, equipment, etc.
17. Answer prepress phone
18. Recording time and job efforts in Hagen
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour
