Pre Press Technician

Prepress Technician (South San Francisco)

The Prepress Technician's required skills are the accurate assembly and generation of files/ proofs/plates that comply with job and departmental specifications and procedures for offset, digital, and wide format presses. The right candidate is responsible for file manipulation, imposition of files for proof, plate, or wide format output, and performs quality control checks on their work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Multi-task between file preparation, manipulation, and assembly in a Macintosh environment using, but not limited to, the following:

Software: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Professional, Enfocus Pitstop, Quite Imposing, Preps, Word, and all related prepress industry standard applications.

• Work with Rampage Client to rip and trap files.

• Prepare accurate proofs for customer approval using Epson proofers.

• Conduct various checks for quality control and final output

REQUIREMENTS:

• Clear communication skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to function in a fast paced production environment

• Excellent analytical skills and great attention to detail with minimal supervision in order to create and edit print ready PDF files

• Minimum of three years of experience working for a commercial printer

• Journey level prepress skills

• Applied knowledge of graphic arts and the print manufacturing process

• Applied knowledge of trapping.

• Ability to create and edit imposition templates.

• Working knowledge of sheet-fed press layouts, saddle stitch, perfect bound, wire-o books, etc.

• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language sufficiently enough to communicate with others either verbally or in writing, during the execution of duties

• Ability to work overtime when neede

• Agfa Apogee skills are a plus
