Our print farm is the heartbeat of our production, and we’re looking for someone who can keep it running at peak performance.
Position Overview:
The Print Farm Operator is responsible for overseeing daily production in our 3D printing facility. This is not a simple “push start and walk away” role — you’ll manage the flow of jobs, monitor quality, troubleshoot issues, and keep production moving on schedule. You’ll work hands-on with large-format robotic extrusion systems as well as FDM, SLS, and SLA printers, while coordinating with our engineering and operations teams to ensure every order meets our standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily production schedules, ensuring print jobs are prioritized, started, and completed on time
- Monitor multiple 3D printing systems during operation to maintain consistent quality and minimize downtime
- Inspect printed parts against quality standards, documenting any defects and implementing corrective actions
- Prep build plates, load/unload machines, and handle materials for upcoming jobs
- Troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance, calibration, and repairs on equipment as needed
- Track and record production output, machine uptime, and material usage
- Coordinate with the design/engineering team to optimize print files for production efficiency
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment
- Assist with post-processing, including sanding, vapor smoothing, painting, and assembly when needed
- Support material recycling workflows, including grinding and pelletizing feedstock for re-use
- Suggest and implement improvements to increase throughput, reduce waste, and streamline workflow
Qualifications:
- 2 years of hands-on experience with 3D printing (FDM, SLS, or SLA) — large-format or industrial experience preferred
- Strong mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot printing issues independently
- Familiarity with production scheduling and job prioritization
- Understanding of quality control processes in a manufacturing setting
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and working on your feet for extended periods
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Positive attitude, ownership mindset, and willingness to take initiative
What We Offer:
- Competitive hourly pay or salary based on experience
- Opportunities for career growth into production management
- Hands-on work with advanced, large-scale 3D printing technology
- Work in a collaborative, fast-paced, and innovative manufacturing environment
