Field Service Technician - Printing & Bindery Equipment

SUMMARY

Print & Finishing Solutions (PFS) is hiring a Senior Field Service Engineer to autonomously manage our Northern California territory. This role requires immediate operational independence. You will handle field diagnostics, installations, and emergency repairs on commercial printing, paper cutting, and automated bindery systems. You will represent PFS directly at client facilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·         Provide Customer Service based technical support during field visits, dispatches, phone calls

·         Manage all aspects of on-site installation, training, repair, maintenance and test tasks

·         Accurately diagnose, resolve and follow up on errors or technical problems

·         Phone support for existing customer base

·         Work with sense of urgency

·         Produce timely and detailed service reports

·         Operate vehicle in a safe manner and use field automation systems

·         Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization

·         Build positive relationships with customers

·         Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations

·         Promote, market and develop future business for the company

·         Follow all company policies, procedures and protocols

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Experience: Minimum 7 years as a Field Service Engineer in commercial printing, heavy bindery, or industrial packaging machinery.

·         Core Technical Competencies: Demonstrated mastery in servicing heavy finishing equipment (e.g., Horizon, Challenge, MBM, Morgana, MBO, Muller Martini, or similar automated systems).

·         Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency reading electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics; proven competency with high-voltage circuits, PLCs, and motor drives.

·         Operational Independence: Ability to isolate root causes and complete complex mechanical tear-downs solo without factory support on-site.

·         Licensing & Physical Requirements: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in industrial plant environments, and travel regionally as dictated by customer dispatches.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Compensation includes a competitive salary ($30-40 p/hr depending on experience), performance based bonuses, health benefits, company car and a Vanguard retirement plan with contribution matching.   At PFS we strongly believe in compensating team members based on the value they bring to the team, and P&L based incentives are a simple factor of profitability.
