Position Summary

The Inventory Control & Receiving role performs all cycle counting and inventory control functions, including inspections of shipments and reconciliation of variances, while maintaining safe work practices. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform daily Cycle Counting & Inventory Control functions; assist with reconciliation of variances.
  • Serve as the point person for all inbound product shipments from vendors & intercompany transfers.
  • Receive & unload incoming materials & compare information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment (quantity & quality); including Prinsco trucks returning with material from deliveries (RMAs) & transfers from yards (ICTs).
  • Inspect shipments for damages/defects; record discrepancies or damages & notify dispatch office & purchasing personnel.
  • Communicate & coordinate with appropriate procurement specialist for product returns.
  • Maintain data on the ERP system (MS D365) in purchasing & inventory areas (information look-up, run reports, problem solving, planning, purchase order lookup & receipt of goods).
  • Maintain well-organized storage yard (restack & consolidate fragmented stockpiles of similar products into single stockpiles, assist production manager with yard layout & stockpile locations, yard cleanliness, maximize use of available storage space).
  • Maintain restock quantities of secondary processing items (i.e. gaskets, shrink wrap, twine, tags, stickers, tape); work with production management to ensure items are available per upcoming production schedule, including staging of items used in production & returning excess material to stock after completion of production run.
  • Perform yard duties and general cleanup of yard & warehouse as assigned.
  • Work with QC to move damaged & non-conforming products into the Redtag area of yard; complete Redtag documentation.
  • Coordinate with Dispatch of pulling & packaging of orders that require UPS, FedEx or courier services.
  • In locations where required, cross-train in customer service and dispatch functions to support in busy times and back-up when needed such as during PTO.
  • Focus on cross-training, continuous learning and improvement.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required and a minimum of six months of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram forms.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Forklift experience preferred with the ability to achieve a forklift certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds consistently, 50 pounds 1/3 of the day, & 75 pounds less than 1/3 of the day.
  • Using hands and reaching with hands/arms for over 2/3 of the workday.
  • Standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling for over 2/3 of the workday.
  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to differentiate colors.
  • Ability to work in a production environment that is not temperature controlled and occasionally in varying outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in a loud noise environment.
