Summary
The Computer Science Department seeks a faculty member with expertise in both computer science and general education courses. Typically teaches 6-7 three-semester hour courses, or 18-21 semester hours per academic year. Additional duties include ongoing professional development, serving on campus-wide committees, assessment of academic programs, and supporting Christian Science-based character education in accord with Principia’s mission as outlined in Education at The Principia. Primary Responsibilities
- Teaches 18-21 semester hours per academic year
- Is an active character educator in accordance with Principia’s mission
- Teaches courses within the context of Principia's philosophy of liberal arts education
- Works closely with students to develop their thinking, reading, writing, research, and communication skills.
- Maintains office hours, meeting with students for academic advising, conferences, and academic support
- Supports the General Education curriculum, Freshman Year Experience, and writing program
- Maintains an active presence in the discipline through scholarly work and professional development
- Assists in departmental and Center work, including assessment, program review, and development of curriculum, and general business and decision making
- Serves on academic committees
- Supports metaphysically the mission and goals of the institution and its operations

Minimum Qualifications
- Student of Christian Science
- Supportive of Principia’s guiding statements as articulated here https://www.principia.edu/about/guiding-statements
- Master’s Degree in computer science or math, or significant tested experience in software development; Ph.D preferred
- Demonstrated excellence in coding
- Willingness to be an academic generalist who can teach a majority of areas within the discipline
- Ability to work with a range of students and skill levels
- Classroom teaching experience or work with college-aged students preferred

Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive starting salary range for this position: $60,000-$98,375 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
