Director of Recruiting
Location: Scranton, PA (On-site / Regional Leadership Role)
Type: Full-Time | Exempt
Travel: ~25 percent regional travel
About the Opportunity
We are a fast-growing, mission-driven healthcare services organization operating across multiple states. Our work supports vulnerable populations, and our growth has created the need for a hands-on Director of Recruiting who can lead teams, build structure, and drive results in complex, high-volume markets.
This is not a strategy-only role. This is a build, lead, and execute position for someone who thrives in pace, ambiguity, and accountability.
You will own recruiting operations across assigned markets, develop and coach recruiters, and partner closely with operations and HR leadership to ensure staffing keeps pace with growth.
What You’ll Do
Lead and Develop Recruiting Teams
- Coach and develop recruiters with different experience levels, work styles, and motivations
- Set clear expectations, explain the “why,” and hold people accountable without burning bridges
- Step in directly when needed to interview, troubleshoot, or unblock hiring challenges
Own Recruiting Operations
- Oversee full-cycle recruiting across multiple locations and roles
- Create structure in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities
- Track performance metrics, hiring trends, and pipeline health
- Run recruiting rhythms including team meetings, priorities, and follow-through
Drive High-Volume Hiring
- Lead recruiting in environments where urgency matters and volume is real
- Understand entry-level candidate behavior, follow-up cadence, and conversion challenges
- Adapt quickly when staffing needs change unexpectedly
Build Creative Pipelines
- Go beyond job boards and LinkedIn
- Develop community partnerships, referrals, job fairs, and local sourcing strategies
- Guide teams toward low-cost, high-impact recruiting approaches in tight labor markets
Partner Cross-Functionally
- Work closely with operations, HR, onboarding, and training teams
- Ensure a smooth transition from candidate to employee
- Maintain compliance with hiring standards, documentation, and regulatory requirements
What Success Looks Like
- Recruiting teams are organized, accountable, and performing consistently
- Staffing gaps are addressed proactively, not reactively
- Recruiters feel supported, challenged, and clear on expectations
- Hiring leaders trust recruiting as a strategic partner, not just a service function
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Organizational Development, or related field
- 3 plus years of progressive recruiting experience
- At least 2 years in a leadership or team lead capacity
- Experience in high-volume environments such as healthcare, behavioral health, manufacturing, retail, or warehouse
- Strong organizational skills and follow-through
- Comfort operating in fast-paced, sometimes chaotic environments
Nice to Have
- Experience recruiting entry-level or frontline roles at scale
- Community-based sourcing or job fair experience
- Background in multi-site or multi-state operations
Why This Role Stands Out
- Direct impact on growth and operations
- Real leadership responsibility, not a title-only role
- Opportunity to build structure and leave a lasting mark
- Mission-driven work with real-world impact
